About :Minuit, chrétiens' is a Christmas carol based on a text written around 1843 by Placide Cappeau and set to music by Adolphe Adam in 18471. Originally composed for soprano and keyboard (piano, organ or harmonium), 'Minuit, chrétiens' is often sung with organ accompaniment at the first Christmas mass traditionally celebrated at midnight on 24 December. Numerous transcriptions of this carol have been made for a variety of formations, from simple adaptations for solo instruments to symphonic orchestrations with large choirs and organ.
