About :O mio babbino caro (literally, in French "Oh mon petit papa chéri") is an opera aria for soprano from Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi (1918) with a libretto by Giovacchino Forzano. It is the most famous aria in Puccini's Triptych. This aria is sung by Lauretta at a time when tensions between her father and her future parents-in-law are so great that they could lead to her separation from Rinuccio, the man she loves. It is a breath of simple lyricism in the atmosphere of jealousy, hypocrisy and double-dealing that prevails.
