About :The Christmas Oratorio, from which the aria 'Bereite dich Zion' is taken, is a work by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) composed in 1734 in Leipzig, written for singing in church, with orchestra, during the Christmas season. Bach wrote three oratorios (apart from the Passions): the Christmas oratorio, the Easter oratorio and the lesser known Ascension oratorio.
