About :Mel Bonis (1858-1937) was a French composer. She composed about 200 works (Piano, chamber music, sacred music, melodies, orchestral repertoire), most of them composed between 1900 and 1914. Introduced to César Franck by a friend of her parents, she entered the Paris Conservatoire as a student in the women's harmony and Piano accompaniment class, and attended his organ class as an auditor. Mel Bonis was a member of the Société nationale de musique (National Music Society) from 1899 to 1911 and was the first woman to be appointed secretary in 1910.
