About :La Mer (The Sea), subtitled Three Symphonic Sketches for Orchestra, is a symphonic work by Claude Debussy (1862-1918). It was premiered in 1905 in Paris by the Lamoureux Orchestra conducted by Camille Chevillard. It was completed during the composer's stay in Eastbourne. The piece was not very well received, but over time it became one of Debussy's most widely performed orchestral compositions.
