About :The 'Danses sacrée et profane', were composed by Debussy in 1904, just after the premiere of his opera Pelléas et Mélisande. They were commissioned by the director of the Pleyel firm, who had patented a new model of chromatic Harp without pedals in an attempt to compete with Erard. It is one of the major works in the solo Harp and orchestra repertoire. It is also often played with string quartet accompaniment.
