About :Alcina is an opera in three acts by Georg Friedrich Handel (1685-1759), which premiered in London in 1735. The libretto, by an anonymous author, is inspired by the 'Orlando Furioso' of Ariosto. It tells the story of the fascinating magician Alcina, who fell in love with the knight Ruggiero. In his tune 'E un folle un vil affetto', Oronte, the commander of Alcina's troops, expresses his wounded love for Morgana, who has forsaken him for another.
