About :Ariodante' is the second of three operas by Georg Friedrich Handel (1685-1759). It is a love tragedy in which human passions are unleashed, inspired by Ariosto's 'Orlando Furioso' and composed in 1734 on an anonymous libretto after Antonio Salvi. Deceived by his rival, believing himself betrayed by his lover, Ariodante delivers all his suffering in 'Scherza infida' (Act II, scene 3), which is undoubtedly one of the composer's most beautiful arias
