About :Charles John Stanley (1712-1786) was a British composer, Harpsichordist and organist. He was a friend of Georg Friedrich Handel, and after his death he joined John Christopher Smith, and later Thomas Linley, to continue the series of oratorios that Handel had been unable to complete. In 1779, Stanley succeeded William Boyce as Master of the Queen's Music.
