Béla Bartók (1881 - 1945) was a Hungarian composer and pianist. His 44 duets for two violins, published in 1931, are made, in the words of the composer, "so that students could, from their earliest years of study, play works in which the natural simplicity of the people and also its melodic and rhythmic peculiarities are to be found". It is thus a true pedagogical collection, inspired by Hungarian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Ruthenian and Arabic folklore.
