Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 5 in F major is a sonata in four movements and was written between 1800 and 1801. It is often known as the "Spring Sonata," although the composer did not originate this nickname. It is the most famous violin sonata by Beethoven along with the Kreutzer Sonata, and one of his most poetic pieces. This work is dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries, who sponsored Beethoven and to whom the Seventh Symphony is also dedicated.
