John Benett (1575-1614) is an English composer from the Renaissance, and was part of the Madrigal School, which contributed to the development of the genre in England from the end of the 16th century until the beginning of the 17th. “Weep, O Mine Eyes” is a tribute to John Dowland, composer and lutenist, contemporary of Benett. (Recording produced with the support of the Cité de la Voix and the Orange Foundation)
