About : Giovanni Bottesini (1821-1889) was an Italian double bass player, conductor and composer. He was one of Verdi’s friends, whom he met in Venice, and conducted Aida’s premiere in Cairo on December 24th, 1871, as part of the opening of the Suez Canal. The Concerto no 2 in B minor is one of the most performed work in the double bass repertoire.
