Brahms's Sonata no.2 op.100 was composed for violin and piano in 1886, while the composer was spending the summer in Thun (Switzerland). One can feel the light refreshing atmosphere of that time in the alps throughout the three movements of the piece, named the "Thuner-Sonate" by the writer Viktor Widmann.
