Te Deum - I. Allegro Spirito
Benoît Mathy & Emmanuelle Bartoli
The Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643-1704) is a famous Versailles motet (a musical forme created at Louis XIV's court). It was composed between 1688 and 1698 while the composer was staying at the Jesuit church of Saint-Louis in Paris, where he served as music master. This work is written for a choir, soloists and an orchestra. This Te Deum is famous for its prelude, the first eight measures being featured in the Eurovision opening credits.
