About : Suggested by the editor Simrock, who wanted to reproduce the commercial success of Brahms “Hungarian Dances”, Antonin Dvorak’s “Slavonic Dances” were inspired by popular Czech music, a kind of music cherished to the composer. After a first successful series composed in 1878, the opus 46, Dvorak made a second one in 1886, the opus 72. Both series were made for piano four hands before being transposed for orchestras.
