The String Quintet No. 3 in E-flat major, B. 180 (Op. 97), was composed by Dvořák during his stay in Iowa in just over a month in the summer of 1893, just after the "American" String Quartet. This quintet demonstrates the way the composer combines Bohemian folklore with American inspiration. It is the composer's third work for this group, the first being Op. 1 of 1861 and the second Op. 77 of 1875.
