About : Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka (1804 - 1857) was a Russian composer. He is regarded as the initiator of the Russian modern music School. Both friend with Pushkin and Gogol, he was one of the main role models for "The Five", a group of musicians who aimed at creating pure Russian music. His viola sonata remained unfinished and was only published in Moscow in 1932, that is more than a century after it was composed.
