Norwegian Dance No.2, Op.35

Edvard Grieg's Norwegian Dances, published in 1881, are four dances composed for piano four hands. Following the Danish and then Swedish dominations, Norway, just like many other European nations, tried to find its own national culture in the middle of the 19th century. Serving this purpose, Ludvig Mathias Lindeman made a collection of Norwegian folk songs, published in 1840, from which Grieg's dances were drawn.
