About :In his tour of the European continent, Mendelssohn (1809-1847), after Germany, France and England, stopped in Italy in the spring of 1830. He was working on the unfinished Symphony No.3, Scottish, as well as several other compositions. However, he was keen to start a new symphony which, like the one dedicated to the Scottish highlands, would be inspired by the composer's romantic landscapes and emotions in Italy.
