The Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso in A Minor, Op. 28, is a piece for solo violin and orchestra composed by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) in 1863 for the prodigy violinist Pablo de Sarasate, then aged nineteen. Since its premiere, it has been one of the composer's most popular pieces.Like many of his contemporaries, such as Édouard Lalo and Georges Bizet, Saint-Saëns was greatly interested in Spanish music, which influence is strongly felt in this work.
