About : Tomás Luis de Victoria (1548-1611) was a Spanish Catholic priest, composer, kapellmeister and organist. He is the most famous polyphony composer of the Spanish Renaissance. Compared to other Renaissance composers such as Palestrina or Lassus, de Victoria's music legacy is rather humble with only 180 pieces. Out of his compositions "O Magnum Mysterium" probably is the most widely sang over the world. It is a Gregorian piece set on the Christmas matins, also adapted by many composers among which Byrd, Gabrieli, Palestrina, Poulenc. (Recording produced with the support of the Cité de la Voix and the Orange Foundation)
