Romance in C minor
Carl Maria von Weber
Nicolas Moutier & Emmanuelle Bartoli
Carl Maria von Weber (1786 – 1826) was a German composer mainly known for his vocal repertoire and particularly his opera, Der Freischütz. Although his name appears on the score that was only rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century, the origin of the Romance for trombone remains uncertain. It was presumably composed between 1811 and 1821, period during which Weber distanced himself from opera. The Romance is now one of the major pieces of the trombone repertoire.
